Abstract: Brief abstract written by HRAF anthropologists who have done the subject indexing for the document
This study, in Spanish, adopts a regional focus to identify distinct types of settlements that developed in the area around Tiwanaku -- one of the most important centers of the south central Andes. These data are further supplemented with additional information on subsistence patterns and ceramic analysis. The major focus of the work is on the valley of Tiwanaku and on the sites (or settlements) representative of the various temporal periods in the region, from formative (1500 B.C.-100 A.D.) to the late Pacajes period (ca. 1540 A.D.-1600 A.D.).
