Abstract
Debono and Mortensen conducted salvage excavations at the predynastic cemetery found during construction of a building complex. The whole cemetery has probably not been found. The excavation and stratigraphy is described. Also described are more than 60 graves (some of which contained no bones and some which contained animal bones) and the grave goods such as ceramic pottery, stone vases, flint blades, palettes, and shell. Burial customs are described and compared with other contemporary cultures. The settlement associated with the cemetery has not been found. Drawings of the pottery and photographs of some of the burials taken during the excavation are included.
