Abstract
'The excavation of El Omari was carried out on behalf of the Antiquities Department because the site was in danger of being destroyed by private collectors, the SEBAKHIM and the military.' (page 7). Other work done at the site and in the area since the 1870s is reviewed. At El Omari there were two main excavated areas: Area A and Area B. The site consists of series of pits. Every pit was excavated separately. The pits were used for habitation, storage, refuse, and burial. The finds include pottery and reworked sherds, lithic tools, including some that may have been used for fishing, ornaments, bone tools, cereals, and wooden objects. Also described are the finds from Gebel Hof. Some of the artifacts are drawn and photographs from the excavations are shown.
