Abstract
In this volume (the fourth of four volumes, eHRAF documents nos. 11-18) Ibrahim Rizkana and Jürgen Seeher describe the cemeteries of Maadi and Wadi Digla. These cemeteries provide clues for establishing a relative chronology of predynastic Maadi culture. A total of 547 human graves from Maadi and Wadi Digla were found and the individual graves and their artifacts are described along with a brief description of the excavations and field documentation. A few animal burials were also found. The human and animal remains and their associated artifacts were inventoried in 1984-1985. Their current condition is noted. The artifacts had been stored in magazines on the site and some deterioration of the artifacts (mostly due to loss) and loss and deterioration of the documentation had occurred. This document includes a catalog of the the burials and their associated artifacts along with drawings. Photographs of some of the graves and artifacts can be found in eHRAF document 18 (Plates I-XXXVII). That document provides a physical description of the remains.
