Abstract
The archaeological material surface collected over 25 years by Robert Harness Jr. on his property is analyzed in this chapter. The Harness property includes the Liberty Earthworks. Coughlin and Seeman examined the data to determine settlement pattern. They found hamlets and special use sites along with mounds. They also found a site of Terminal Middle Woodland date that appears to be a small village (larger than a hamlet). They found hamlets or homesteads on the flood plain and terrace edge and ceremonial or special manufacturing locations associalted with mound and earthwork constructions.
