Journal of field archaeology10 (1) • Published In 1983 • Pages: 71-84

By: MacNeish, Richard S., Nelken-Terner, Antoinette.

Abstract
In this overview of the entire Preceramic, MacNeish and Nelken-Turner handily distinguish the Early Archaic by Maritime (Caribbean coastal), Santa Marta (Chiapas and Oaxaca), El Riego (Puebla and Valley of Mexico), Infiernillo (NE Mexico) and Cochise (NW Mexico) regional traditions, on pages 11-13. For each major site and there is a brief listing of diagnostic traits. Other portions of the text are not relevant to this file (NY30) or are overly general summaries of the entire Preceramic.
