Abstract
The primary purpose of this study is to analyze the collection of ceramic sherds from the Monte Albán Survey in order to date changes in the settlement pattern of the urban center. The process involved the classification of the sherds according to types that could be fitted into the existing Monte Albán ceramic sequence, so that a provenience could be dated according to gross time periods of the sequence (p. 167). The sherd analysis, which comprises the major portion of this document, involved classification by attributes of paste, form, surface finish, and decoration.
