Abstract
Appell uses published primary sources to supplement the archaeological data for Period V. As she discusses the Postclassic, this source is mainly outside the time period for the Late Preclassic. This source is best used to explore the possible ways local and regional administration and exchange operated before the Postclassic and perhaps even to reconstruct the ways these institutions worked in the Preclassic.
