By: Scarborough, Vernon L..

Abstract
Scarborough reports on a survey of mound groups within a 1.5 square kilometer area surrounding the central precinct of Cerros. She hypothesizes that a majority of the mounds served as residences and their size correlates with the status of the occupants. She classified the mounds according to six types based on form, size, and grouping, and selected a sample of 34 structures for test excavations. Scarborough reports on the architecture, stratigraphy, and chronology of each structure.
