expand_more Description

The Wilton tradition was located in the Cape region of South Africa from 10,000 to 4,000 BP. The people were nomadic hunter-gatherers living in small, egalitarian bands. Sites are located along the coast and inland from the Cape north to Botswana, Zimbabwe, and Mozambique. The dry conditions found at some of the sites have preserved some artifacts of leather and cordage. The people living along the coast relied on marine resources to some extent.
