The Late Caribbean tradition was located in the islands of the West Indies and coastal Colombia and Venezuela from 1000 BP to 500 BP (AD 1000 - AD 1500). The people were intensive agriculturalists and fishers living in politically centralized societies with ranking or stratification. Basic technologies included pottery, loom weaving, woven basketry, dugout canoes, frame and thatch buildings, palisade villages, woven clothes, and hammocks. Pottery was highly developed using modeling, incision, and appliqué.
