Abstract
K.C. Chang writes about his archaeological research and findings from the sites of Fengpitou [Fengbitou] and Tapenkeng [Dapenkeng] in south and north Taiwan, respectively. The Neolithic cultures he found there extend from before 5000 B.P. to 400 B.P. His findings for this culture mostly consisted of ceramics and stone tools. 'The Corded Ware culture … is apparently separated from later prehistoric cultures … by a [i]considerable time interval.' (page 248). The Corded Ware culture may in fact extend from 11,000 B.P. to 5000 B.P., but as there are so few C-14 dates, it is only known that it occurs before 5000 B.P. (3000 B.C.). As Chang was presenting all his findings from these sites, only the data that pertain to the Corded Ware culture were indexed for OCM (Outline of Cultural Materials) subjects. Chang also briefly examines other Corded Ware cultures in southern China and northern Vietnam.
