Abstract
Hijjara writes about his excavations at Arpachiyah, the first reinvestigation since Mallowan excavated there in 1933, and his findings from his survey of sites in northern Iraq. The survey allows him to discuss settlement patterns for Halafian sites and how Arpachiyah is different from other contemporary Halafian villages. Arpachiyah has the longest sequences of any Halfian site, has unique ritual artifacts, and has a range of stratified ceramics for the Halaf period. Hijjara discusses the ceramics in detail with numerous plates of the ceramics provided.
