Abstract
This document is a study of management and administration in the Sargonic period during the third millennium BC. The author divides the management phase into four spheres: military, political, economic, and ideological. The Sargonic kings endjoyed considerable success with each of these phases; the reasons for and degree of this success are among the themes of the present work. In addition, the administrative apparatus, representing political and economic management, is well documented, with additional information provided on both military and political matters by Sargonic commemorative inscriptions. In the realm of ideology, religious policy is also best known from commemorative inscriptions as well as a group of Sumerian literary text believed to date to the Sargonic period (p. 25).
