Raw material availability and Early Archaic settlement in the southeast
paleoindian and early archaic southeast • Tuscaloosa • Published In 1996 • Pages: 84-91
By: Daniel, Randy.
Abstract
Daniel believes the Savannah river stone tool assemblages were more directly influenced by the abundance and quality of Allendale chert than by the type of settlement-subsistence organization. In other words, the level of tool curation among the Sanannah river assemblages is telling us less about logistical or residential mobility than it is about the differential use of raw material. Daniel also believes a cross-watershed band range should also be considered more carefully rather than just accepting a watershed-extensive band range.
