Rock Island and the Laurel cultural frontier in northern Lake Michigan

Abstract
Ceramics from the Rock Island site show a mix of Laurel and North Bay decorative traits. This suggests that Rock Island was at the frontier between these two related cultures early in the Laurel cultural sequence. Mason describes the ceramics (in detail) and some of the other artifacts found at the site. Only the material pertaining to the Laurel culture was indexed for Outline of Cultural Material (OCM) codes.
