Tonto Basin demography in a regional perspective

roosevelt community development study: new perspectives on tonto basin prehistory (15) • Published In 1995 • Pages: 201-226

By: Doelle, William H..

Abstract
Doelle examines population levels in the Tonto basin and regionally in southcentral Arizona. He describes how he arrives at the population figures. As Doelle states 'the primary intent is to place the demographic trajectory of the Tonto Basin into a broader regional context. The goal is to characterize the magnitude of the population at roughly 100-year intervals throughout this area so that the size of population in adjacent areas can be compared with that of the Tonto Basin....It is important to know whether an area such as the Tonto Basin had a population similar to that of surrounding areas, or if it was appreciable different.'
