Abstract
In this article Gladwin presents a history of archaeological investigations in the Gila Basin starting with the recognition given to the area by the Hemenway Expedition of 1887-1888. In addition to the historical aspects of this document, there is some limited information on house types, pottery, and the establishment of a chronology for the Hohokam in this area.
