Abstract
The significance of the Red Mountain phase in the Phoenix Basin is evaluated in terms of the development of early Hohokam agricultural villages. Radiocarbon dates for the Red Mountain phase are reported. Discussion focuses on architecture, material associations , and settlement structure. It is argued the early villages in southeastern Arizona may have been the source of the Red Mountain phase in the Phoenix Basin (p. 37).
