Abstract
This document presents an archaeological synthesis of south-central and southwestern New Mexico with particular emphasis on the Late Pithouse period of these regions. The author discusses three major phases of the Late Pithouse period (Georgetown, San Francisco, and Three Circle) in reference to styles in ceramics, domestic and ceremonial architecture, intra and inter-regional trade, and burial practices. Several methods of dating artifacts from this period are briefly described in the text.
