Abstract
This is a collection of reports examining the relationships between lowland and upland archeological features, and settlement and subsistence patterns, in the Lapakahi area of North Kohala District, Hawaii Island. The researchers surveyed and examined altogether 182 sites in an area 2.3 kilometers long, along the coast, and 150 meters deep. They excavated features such as walls, middens, fire pits, field boundaries, trails, rock pilings, terraces, 'cupboards,' graves, salt pans, and HEIAU platforms. The various reports discuss burials, dwelling types, field types, diet, water sources, trail system, salt making, climate and vegetation, and agriculture.
