Abstract: Brief abstract written by HRAF anthropologists who have done the subject indexing for the document This document surveys the archaeological finds in the Huatabampo region on the southern coast of Sonora and northern Sinaloa in Mexico. Alvarez Palma provides data on the geography of the region as a setting for the analysis of the archaeological remains which center primarily around the ceramic and lithic industries and the production of various types of effigy figurines. Subsistence patterns for the prehistoric Huatabampo population are based on the author's extrapolation of data from contemporary ethnic cultures of the region.
