The Bell Beaker Tradition occurred in the temperate areas of Western Europe between 4500 and 3800 BP (2500-1800 BC). The Bell Beaker people practiced a sedentary agriculture supplemented by animal husbandry and lived in small villages grouped into chiefdoms. Diagnostic artifacts include bell-shaped ceramic beakers decorated with stamped horizontal bands, copper knives, flint arrowheads with barbs and tangs, and polished stone wristguards.
