Abstract
The reader is cautioned that Webb and Baby date Adena from about 800 B.C. to 700 A.D. (2800 B.P.- 1300 B.P.). This was due to the poor state of radiocarbon dating in the 1940s. The time period for Adena is now know to be much shorter (2600 B.P.- 1900 B.P.). Webb and Baby view this document as a supplement to 'The Adena People' (eHRAF document no. 6) by listing 49 additional Adena sites, listing some new traits, and adding better definitions for some of the old traits. They discuss Adena use of Kentucky rock shelters. They examine in more detail Adena animal masks, medicine bags, and Adena tablets. They also examine possible Adena influence on Hopewell and the Southern Cult. And they discuss the age of Adena based on the radiocarbon dates then known and list some of the traits for early, middle and late Adena.
