Abstract
This article, making particular use of the accounts of Sahagún, attempts to summarize some of the more commonly agreed-upon aspects of Toltec civilization, prior to the establishment of the Aztecs in Central Mexico. Much of the paper deals with the characterization of the Toltecs by Sahag·n, and the search for the location of Tula (Tollan) in Mexico, about which there is much disagreement among scholars.
