Abstract
This is primarily an historical reconstruction of data relevant to the origins and development of urbanism at the postclassic city of Tula in Mexico based in part on the authors' excavations at the El Corral Locality and Canal Locality sites. Major topics of discussion deal with the early Tula community, its urban development, ceramic change, settlement expansion, relocation of Tula's main ceremonial precinct, development of an urban obsidian workship industry, various aspect of life in the city (e. g., residential life, economy), and the demise of the city as a whole and its subsequent Aztec reoccupation.
