Abstract
This article serves as an introduction to a series of papers on the Epiclassic period at the archaeological site of Xochicalco in the state of Western Morelos, Mexico. These papers, collected by the Xochicalco Mapping Project under the direction of the author, present information on the domestic, social, and political structure of Xochicalco, with the general goal to map the site, trace its growth and development through time, and to collect information on Xochicalco's internal sociopolitical structure and role in the evolution of socioeconomic systems in Western Morelos. Hirth describes briefly the general content of each of the papers in the collection.
