Abstract
In this paper the authors provide a typological classification of the ground-stone artifacts recovered at Xochicalco. This typology provides a description of the Xochicalco ground-stone assemblage that can be used for baseline comparisons with other ground-stone assemblages in Central Mexico. In addition, this study examines the distribution of ground-stone tools in domestic and nondomestic contexts. This portion of the article is exploratory in nature and is intended to contribute to an understanding of how ground stone can be use to study social status and household activity in pre-Hispanic Central Mexico (p. 151).
