Abstract
Based on the laboratory analysis of carbonized plant remains from nine different sites in Western Morelos, this study presents a catalog of economic plant usage in pre-Hispanic Mexico during the period specified (i. e., 500 BC -900 AD). Because of good preservation conditions at Coatlan del Rio, most plant remains reported in this article pertain to the Escarpa phase (500 BC-200 AD); therefore readers seeking paleobotanical information on Xochicalco alone should use this paper with caution.
