Abstract
The author discusses various models for the transition to agriculture in China (especially North and Northeast China) and briefly describes the Chifeng International Project in Inner Mongolia. A summary is provided for the earliest Neolithic cultures in the area, the Xinglongwa and Zhaobaogou subtraditions.
