AbstractBrief abstract written by HRAF anthropologists who have done the subject indexing for the document
The author reviews the botanical data from various archaeological sites, concentrating on those around the Yellow and Yangtze Rivers, and with a brief overview of findings in the Zhujiang (Pearl) River area. The focus is on evidence for cereal crops that might reveal where each developed, how they spread to new areas, and the differences between cultivated and domesticated varieties. How quickly cereals were incorporated into the diet is also explored.
