This document is from Jarrige's paper presented at the Sixth International Conference of the Association of South Asian Archaeologists in 1981. In this report he emphasizes the dating and chronology of Periods I, II, and III (the Neolithic and Chalcolithic periods). Jarrige again summarizes some of the more important findings from these periods, such as the granaries, evidence of cereal agriculture, ceramics, and a terracotta bead which makes a cylinder-like imprint. Many of these findings indicate a complex social organization by 8000 B.P.
