Abstract
Byrd describes the excavations at Beidha, one of the few sites that has been substantially excavated, giving us a better idea of what a complete village would have looked like. The excavatons were conducted under the direction of the late Diana Kirkbride-Helbaek. Brian Byrd participated in the final season of excavations and wrote this document. He describes the excavations, the organization of the field notes and photographs, the stratigraphy, the architecture and village layout, and briefly describes some of the artifacts found within the buildings. Beidha was occupied in the late Epipaleolithic, the Pre-Pottery Neolithic B, and the Nabatean. This report focuses on the PPNB settlement and its architecture and discusses the rise of private property.
