Abstract
Gelb uses the various meanings of Sumerian words, personal names, sales contracts, the Manishtushu Obelisk (Maništušu Obelisk), and other ancient documents to shed light on geneology and household structure. Gelb discusses both private and public households (such as households of the temple and the king) and nuclear and extended families.
