By: Seidlmayer, Stephan Johannes.

Abstract
Seidlmayer examines Elephantine and the changes that occurred there, and around there, from the Predynastic through the Old Kingdom. Only the data that pertain to the Late Predynastic through the 3rd Dynasty were indexed for OCM (Outline of Cultural Materials) subjects. He describes the administrative complex, the small step pyramid, the fortress, and the local cult temple of Satet. He also examines why the town was first settled and what attracted people and the central government to the area.
