AbstractBrief abstract written by HRAF anthropologists who have done the subject indexing for the document
Brose argues that the Florida material is '…at best, only limited evidence for Ohio Hopewell or Hopewell-derived materials….and that none of the sites …are profitably considered as Hopewell.' (page 141). The Kolomoki complex is examined along with their ceramic traditions and the Hopewellian artifacts. Brose concludes the material '…only peripherally articulates with the Hopewellian interaction sphere of the Midwest. While occasional artifacts appear to have entered the Florida system from the north…there has been…little…effect.' (page 149).
