Excavations at Snaketown, Harold S. Gladwin, Emil W. Haury, E. B. Sayles, Nora Gladwin (25) • Published In 1965 • Pages: 168-169

By: Gladwin, Harold Sterling.

Abstract
This brief article presents a cautionary note to ceramic archaeologists to avoid spending an undue amount of emphasis on the classification, definition, and description of pottery types based on the physical appearance of the sherds alone without also submitting the samples to rigid typological studies under pottery work-shop or laboratory conditions.
