Abstract
In this document MacNeish and Garcia Cook present a detailed study of the cultural stratigraphy of two cave sites in the Lencho Diego locality of Mexico (Purron and Abejas caves). Purron cave, the major focus of this work, consists of thirty-one occupational levels ranging in time from 6000 BC to 300 AD, but of this chronological range only the period of from 5000 to 2000 BC which is directly relevant to the Highland Mesoamericn Archaic tradition that has been indexed with OCM codes (subject codes). Abejas cave, with its ten occupational levels, ranges from 6100 BC to 1 AD, but as above, only the period from 5000 to 2000 BC has been indexed. Cultural data in this study refer to chronology, stratification, artifacts and their manufacture, and the authors' reconstruction of the life-ways of the inhabitants based on the available information.
