Acta archaeologica Sinica (1, 1972) • Published In 1972 • Pages: 39-58

By: Jia, Lanpo, Gai, Pei, You, Yuzhu.

Abstract
This report on the site of Shiyu describes the types of stone tools and species of animal bone recovered, and attempts to reconstruct the climate and environment. The animal species present are compared to those found at other Chinese Paleolithic sites. The authors surmise the age of the site based on species found and stratigraphy. They conclude with a discussion where Shiyu fits into out the Chinese Paleolithic and how it adds to an understanding of the temporal and regional scope of the era, as well as its origins.
