Abstract
The Beifudi site is important for its early evidence of religious practice, as seen in buried offerings and fired-clay masks. The authors describe the analysis and results of pollen samples collected from a soil profile located a few hundred meters from the site for a better understanding of the local environment and climate, and their effects on human activity.
