Abstract
This work examines the role of craft specialization in elite status, especially the labor-intensive production of prestige goods such as metal objects and very large, thin-walled (“eggshell”) pots. Similarities in ceramic vessels throughout the large area of the Longshan tradition may indicate peer polity interaction.
