Abstract
Jarrige briefly compares the similarities and differences of some neolithic and epipaleolithic traits found at Merhgarh with that of the Near East, Himilayan piedmonts and Iranian Plateau. He than provides an overview of the findings at Mehrgarh, in particular, the architectural developments that continued on up to the Harappan civilization such as buttressed retaining walls built to protect the settlement from the alluviation processes of the Bolan river or mud-brick platforms.
