Abstract
Close reviews the known sites along the coast of Africa at 18,000 B.P. She describes the paleoenvironment, site distribution, the economy and diet of the inhabitants of the various sites, and the physical type of their human population. One interesting detail is the Iberomaurusian Mechtoids practice of removing the two first upper incisors around puberty.
