Abu Hureyra 1 and the antecedents of agriculture on the middle Euphrates
natufian culture in the levant • Ann Arbor, Mich. • Published In 1991 • Pages: 277-292
By: Moore, A. M. T. (Andrew Michael Tangye).
AbstractBrief abstract written by HRAF anthropologists who have done the subject indexing for the document
Moore describes the main features of the late Epipaleolithic settlement at Abu Hureyra near the Euphrates river and compares this site to contemporary Natufian sites in Israel and Jordon. The Epipaleolithic layers consist of numerous pits, the largest of which were houses. The site is located near the steppe and the Euphrates flood-plain. This enabled the population to exploit both habitats.
