Abstract
McCorriston analyzed botanical samples from two sites: Tell Aqab, that was excavated in the late 1970s and Umm Qseir, that was excavated in 1986. These two sites are in different ecological zones, but the samples are from similar archaeological deposits. McCorriston conducted botanical field studies in the Khabur Basin. These studies were used to determine the species of plants that grow on farmed land with different soils. With these data, she is able to compare farming practices and plant uses at the two sites and note differences in production, collection, and processing of plant foods.
