By: Moore, A. M. T. (Andrew Michael Tangye).
Abstract
Moore writes an overview of the Neolithic. He separately describes the cultural sequence for each region in the Near East . He defines the Neolithic as the 'period in which a pattern of village settlement based on subsistence farming and stockbreeding became the basis of existence for communities throughout the Near East.' (page 2) Moore describes the 'principal changes that took place in the economy, patterns of settlement, and, so far as possible, social and community organization.' (page 1). He also describes the environment, architecture, and artifacts. Only the data that pertain to the Ceramic Neolithic were marked for OCM (Outline of Cultural Materials) codes.
