Abstract
This is a very detailed study of one specific, well-preserved, house excavated at the site of Tell Madhhur in Iraq. Roaf describes the architectural features of the house, then the archaeological evidence (e.g., the artifacts), concluding with a consideration of the implications of the material thus discovered to the social structure and social activities of the household inhabitants. Much of the data in this study deal with the physical characteristics of the house -- roofing, presence or absence of staircases or ramps, rooms, etc., with pottery descriptions, and other objects found within the house.
