Abstract
Based on the analysis of historical records and archaeological data this document describes the spread of Sargonic influence throughout northern Mesopotamia and Syria resulting in the extension of political control in these areas, as well as establishing a network of enclaves at focal nodes along the lines of communication criscrossing the northern Mesopotamian plains, and intensifying and regularizing exchange with an ever-widening circle of peripheral communities along the Persian Gulf coast and beyond. Those polities not amenable to trade were subject to periodic military expeditions and raids.
