Excavations at Tell Brak2 • Published In 2001 • Pages: 345-350

By: Weber, Jill A..

Abstract
Weber examined and analyzed faunal remains from Tell Brak. Only 3147 bones were examined for this study and only the 968 mammals are analyzed. The majority of animal remains were discarded garbage and she illustrates trends in animal use, disposal, and subsistence. The domestic animals she discusses include cattle, two breeds of sheep, goat, pig, dog, and domestic donkey. Wild animals include wild onager, gazelle, deer, lion, birds, and reptiles (that may represent burrowing activity). Regional animal exploitation is briefly explored.
