Petrological and chemical analyses of some neolithic ceramics from El Omari, Egypt
El Omari : a neolithic settlement and other sites in the vicinity of Wadi Hof, Helwan, by Fernand Debono and Bodil Mortensen • Mainz Am Rhein • Published In 1990 • Pages: 117-128
By: Hamroush, Hany A., Zied, Hassan Abu.
Abstract
Hamroush and Zied present the results of petrochemical and chemical analyses of the ceramics. The analyses consisted of petrographic thin section, minerological x-ray powder diffraction, and instrumental neutron activation analysis. They determined the firing temperatures used on the ceramics and that the people of El Omari used local clay sources and not Nilotic sediments.
